When I was a little girl, every year I would watch the London marathon with my Dad, and we would say, one day we'll do that.

water..tick

The past week i have drank over a litre and a half of water each day. It was not so bad, i squeezed a lemon into it. I must admit i already feel much better. I also lowered my caffeine to one intake a day, ready for it to be completely removed this week. The caffeine withdrawal head aches have been much easier this way.
So now this week i am detoxing. My husband is too. To be honest it can not come soon enough. Better health is the one thing we are both needing right now. I am feeling pretty great today, but i like to detox hard, so we will see how the week takes me. By detox, I of course mean my usual water fasting. I have had such good results from this, so see no need to find a different detox. The first few days tend to be the hardest, before your body goes into starvation mode. Once there it is plain sailing.
Just from better choices and drinking more water i dropped 5lb last week. I find weight loss very easy. Weight loss and weight gain. It comes and goes so easy. I can quite easily drop a stone in a week or gain a stone in a week. For me the trouble is always in getting fit and lean and then staying there. My problem is maintaining myself with correct choices, and not becoming a lazy greedy me. As i have gotten older a lazier greedier me is harder to ignore. I didn't even realise i had a lazy greedy me when i was younger. But the older i get, the louder that me becomes, and i have really noticed it in my 30's. Time to shut it up.
The husband and I went to get new trainers at the weekend. Running trainers. He has no interest in doing a marathon, but he would like to run and hopefully train with me. We will start with just a basic walk each night, till our detox is finished. I want to do this right, lesson the blow, not be discouraged. So one step at a time, specially while detoxing and possibly having lower energy levels. He also got some trainers for high impact, when he exercises he loves plyometrics. I might even join him, depends on what my knees can handle, I want to aim on running after all.

I'm back :)

I'm back :)

Back on the band wagon. I would say, can you believe i fell off again? But we are only human and bad food seems yummy when you are lazy and fat and filled with colours, flavourings and preservatives. My biggest trouble seems to be health. I have a few health issues, and without fail just as i get into a fitter life something will crop up, and instead of work through it, i cave. So this time it WILL be different, when another symptom crops up i will keep my mind set on the goal. My actions, healthy living, exercise are not the problem (that's for a doctor) instead these things could even be the key to getting better, or at least helping the symptoms to lessen.
Hubby is working with me this time, and we are likely to choose the same paths with food and exercise, so we can be each others workout partner. His work has changed and we can exercise together which will help. The only thing he is unlikely to join me with is all my yoga. I can get him to do power yoga but that's about it. Men are always so scared of yoga. I have done quite a lot of yoga while off the fitness wagon, only really the past couple of months have i slacked, and it's been quite amazing seeing the difference, being able to rest your head on your legs while standing really does feel relaxing after all (who would have known).

The first step? As always with me, drink more water. I hate water, i hate the flavour, it makes me feel like i need to throw up. Obviously this is not good, and i must over come this. I will drink anything to try to skip water. Most days i live on tea and coffee (yes, what a failure back on caffeine) and if fizzy is in the house i will add that, and still wonder why i am thirsty. Well ok i don't wonder, i am just not very smart when it comes to making good decisions if it's something i don't like. My husband is a water drinking pro and gulps down a good 2 litres a day, so i guess i can use him in a competitive way, i do competition quite well.

Something I have added to our life since i last posted on my blog is a nutribullet. I was juicing before, but it always seems to waste so much of the good bits of fruit and veg.

The nutribullet is pretty darn cool. I fill half the cup with leafy greens like spinach then put some fruit in, maybe some 'super foods', bit of coconut oil sometimes and some fluid (water, coconut juice, fruit juice etc) wizz it up, and i have a perfect good tasting smoothy, one which contains all the fruit and veg, not just a drip of it's juice. I love this thing, and so does the whole family. As a bonus i also use it for making my own sauce bases for dinners such as a curry.

Right so i guess i had better stop writing about it and get on with doing it. By it, i mean drinking water. Wish me luck.

Week 7

Was very naughty with food last week to be honest. I think i have got to the point that this water fasting and weight loss is so easy that i know i can cheat alittle and catch up after. But this week I won't be going there again, and will be trying to up the game to stop myself getting bored/complacent or cheating.

Week 6

Still going. Tending to follow a water fasting during the week and eating during the weekend. It will make my goals take longer, but i'm comfortable with it at the moment. To combat the fatigue that can happen with fasting, i have found coconut water to be amazing. Just one carton in the morning does me great. I am drinking it without any bits it while fasting. It keeps me feeling hydrated and stops my muscles aching.

Week 5

Getting a little silly counting in days now. So have moved onto weeks. I ate this weekend. I was in London getting my nerd on at the London film and comic con, so i wanted a good lot of energy to get me around it all with no burn out. I do believe i made good choices with my food though, and even when i ate out stayed away from the usual suspects.
So back to water today. Once you get into fasting, get over the first hurdles, and understand the way it works it becomes a very easy and cheap way to loose some weight. Please though ONLY do it if you have fat stores to use up or it is not fasting but instead starvation. If you have no fat stores then try detoxing with juice.

Day 30

So so knackered. I know this is because i am not drinking enough water. But i have just drank so so much. it's really not appealing now. other than completely knackered, i'm ok. I hope i can get over this as i was feeling great.

Day 28

Been losing 3lb a day the past few days, more than the average weekly loss at weight watchers!! If i lose another 3lb tomorrow, that's two stone down. Still feeling good, and feeling quite energetic, been doing lots of gardening. I tire out quickly though, but my body is getting used to a new fuel. I am looking forward to some flavour. Coping ok with cooking their meals because i am enjoying the smells of food, and it's keeping me sane.

There are four parts to this video, if you are interested in water fasting, it's definitely worth a watch.

Day 27

Still feeling great, and having an easy time with this fast, so really not much to report. Going to get some time out in the garden soon, i have some weeds to pull, and i am not being bothered too much with fatigue or other symptoms. On a huge plus my weight is down by at least 22lb, and holding the tape measure around my waist at the size i used to be is quite a shocker.

Day 26

Hunger all stopped yesterday which is about right for a fast. Still feeling good with just the head ache starting as i go to bed. Feeling quite emotional, and very irritated. Irritation over even the smallest things. But i know this normal for fasting. Yesterday and so far today seem 100% easier. Was jealous of their meal last night because it had sweet potato and i have been craving that. But i felt no need to eat it. Body is getting tired quickly while i am doing things, but that is just the switch to a different fuel. Tongue scrapper still my best friend. If fasting carries on as easy as today, i could continue for a good length of time.

Thursday, 27 June 2013

Day 25

Still feeling pretty great to be honest. Would like a little more energy, but will settle for this. Had a head ache as i went off to bed again, but nothing through the day. Coping with the dry mouth and revolting tongue with my tongue scrapper, it has been a god send being able to clean that white covering off and have a semi normal feeling mouth. I think something is clearing out as i have an eczema patch flare up on my face that i have not had for sometime, so i guess some toxins that were still in my system are coming out.

Wednesday, 26 June 2013

Day 24

Yesterday carried on being good, i felt a slight head ache as i went off to bed but that was it. Woke with a very slight head ache today, but that went almost straight away. Still feeling great today, the only detox indications today are the dry mouth, yucky white tongue and being cold. It's warmish here in uk and i am sure people are wondering why i am still wearing a fleece! I haven't done any exercise, not even my yoga. The more i research water fasting the more it seems relax is best for quicker body healing, so i am going with that. I will begin exercise when i begin juicing.

Day 23

I had the most horrifying migraine last night, made me sick as a dog and i had to go off to bed early. I am guessing this is the detox/fasting session beginning quickly as i have done this a couple of times now. I suppose it could be from illness, but this morning i am feeling good, very good. I didn't get hungry at all yesterday until a brief moment when i woke at about 10pm. I had a spot of hunger this morning at about 6:30 but right now its all passed. I just feel pretty great to be honest. My shape is changing lots. It's like all the parts of my body that are troublesome are clearing out quickest. My stomach and my upper arms are dropping off. Fasting eats at dead and ill tissue first. I am wondering if they are problem areas because i hold a lot of toxins and illness there? Maybe that's why the fasting is eating at them first. My waist alone is down by 15cm and normally even with good diet and exercise my arms barely loose any size despite them needing to. I have also had a few complements and not just the usual 'you look like you've lost weight' but more than that i have been told my skin looks amazing.

Monday, 24 June 2013

Day 22

I spent the last week eating normal/good meals. I controlled my portion size a lot and didn't put on any weight from my fasting. Even with the much much smaller portion sizes i felt completely fulfilled and had no issues with hunger or weakness, i ate slower and really enjoyed my food and all the flavours. The reason i have eaten? The last attempt at fasting wasn't working. I could feel it in my body, i spent the whole week hungry. It was as though my body would not believe it had to go into survival mode and was waiting for me to get to the weekend and juice again. I needed to reboot it. That is now done and today i begin fasting again. I am still completely caffeine free.

Thursday, 13 June 2013

Day 11

I had a head ache yesterday, i don't know how much that had to do with fasting though. My mouth was so very very dry, it's not so bad today, but it's still a little dry. I don't so much know how I am feeling right now, whether i am fatigued or have energy. Water is at a stage where i am finding it quite boring and unpalatable. Something 'detoxy' i have noticed is a couple of pimples on the side of my neck traveling along the path to my glands. I haven't had pimples on my neck before. The skin on my face is looking good though, much clearer than it has been for a long time, but my lips are dry.

Tuesday, 11 June 2013

Day 9

The salt flush definitely worked this morning. I am drinking lots of water, but i do think i need to be drinking more, i am trying hard but i think perhaps i need to put some lemon in it again. My muscles are getting fatigued quick, but other than that not really any problems so far this week. My weight stayed still all weekend while i juiced, but i felt good and that's what matters.

Monday, 10 June 2013

Day 8

Back to water fasting. Felt a tiny bit hungry when i woke this morning, due to juicing the weekend, but it has passed now. I tried some salt water when i woke up, it was completely revolting. I guess it worked, not as much as i had hoped though. Despite how it tasted i may try again tomorrow morning see if i get better results.

Sunday, 9 June 2013

Day 7

Lots more juice, and it's all been very yummy. I have enjoyed every glass. We pretty much put in anything till it fills up the collection jug. Being very frank though, it has not encouraged me to go to the toilet. Don't get me wrong, i don't feel constipated, i just feel like i have nothing to give! Definitely flush next week to help this detox. The head aches and migraine have completely gone at the moment, hopefully that's the last of them. My muscles have felt oddly weak and i have had very slight dizziness, but have had energy.
I go back to full fast tomorrow. I aim to keep with it and not juice at the weekends with my husband until the 30 days are up and then i will be juicing full time. Well that's my plan. I have enjoyed the juicing alot this weekend, but i want to give the water fast it's time to clear my body, before giving my body goodness.

Saturday, 8 June 2013

Day 6

It felt like every muscle in my body ached yesterday, and i could have done with sleeping for a bit. But the head ache was a whole lot better.  I broke my fast last night with a juice dinner. I had planned to juice this weekend, but i was slightly worried. Despite feeling a little horrid, i could feel and see good things happening. I didn't want to upset that. But after letting my body rest for five days, i think juice is the best thing to put in.
I would also like to go to the toilet to help clear out whats know as plaque from my gastrointestinal tract. I am going for deep detox. That's my aim. As i said once the caffeine head aches pass completely i do aim to do a salt water flush (involves drinking warm salt water first thing in the morning. It should clear out within an hour.)
So far this morning I had a delicious juice. We put in cucumber, apples, celery, carrot and lime. It was very refreshing. I still ache a little and can sometimes feel a head ache if i move too vigorously, but on the whole i feel pretty good today.

Day 5

Oh my gosh i am craving flavour. Flavour is all i can think about. Even when we are being strict with ourselves and only eating three meals a day and not snacking we are putting a lot of flavour in our mouth. The fact that my mouth still feels like carpet doesn't help.
Yesterday was definitely the worst day so far, all day i felt like rubbish. And my want for flavour was so bad i even licked a chip. How silly is that, but my taste buds are so bored.
Today seems better so far, it's just a head ache right now, not a banging migraine, also odd it has moved to the other side of my head. But i have hope it's clearing.
For anyone interested, i have shred at least 9lb so far, in five days.
